April 17 & 18, 2017

CH2M Hill Alumni Center, OSU Campus, Corvallis

The Oregon Outdoor Summit will explore ways that outdoor recreation, destination travel, recreation and outdoor related industries, and creative placemaking* can serve OSU’s land grant mission to revitalize and strengthen communities throughout our state.  The Summit will convene informed and interested partners across academia, industry, agencies and nonprofit sectors around a shared interest in the outdoor economy.

* Creative Placemaking is an evolving field of practice that intentionally leverages the power of the arts, culture and creativity to serve a community's interest while driving a broader agenda for change, growth and transformation in a way that also builds character and quality of place.

Summit outcomes:

  1. Broaden perspectives and convey opportunities for tapping the outdoor economy as a tool for increasing community vitality.
  2. Identify strengths and opportunities in Oregon’s seven regions (as defined by Travel Oregon).
  3. Continue the conversation after the summit to make progress on top priority opportunities.

Those interested in developing, influencing access to, or building products for the outdoor and recreation economy, including OSU students, faculty and staff, and agency, business and nonprofit sectors.
