Natural Resources Leadership Academy

Claire Cross, Maurine Powell, Lisa Templeton, Rebecca Badger, Ed Weber, Aaron Wolf, Lynette de Silva - Extended Campus, Division of University Outreach and Engagement, College of Liberal Arts, College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences

This annual academy extends the expertise of OSU faculty to professionals and graduate students throughout the world for a pair of weeklong seminars on leadership.

Held on OSU’s Corvallis campus each June, the academy helps participants gain knowledge and connections that they can use to improve the lives and well-being of people around the world. A hallmark of the program is the way it uses an integrated approach to managing natural resources, combining courses with field trips to bring knowledge across disciplines.

The academy is a collaborative effort involving the Division of Outreach and Engagement, OSU Summer Session and the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. It brings together experts from a wide range of schools, campuses, federal agencies, and international groups.

The field trips, which focus on special natural resource challenges, take participants from the Oregon coast to the central part of the state as they come to understand the broad impacts of natural resource action or regulation.
