Kim McAloney, Division of Student Affairs
In her work with the College Student Services Administration program, Kim McAloney serves as both coordinator and faculty. Her co-coordinator shared that she is, “instructor, advisor, coach, admissions committee member, and internship coordinator.” Kim has taught several classes within CSSA, including the Transitions Course, which focuses on welcoming and preparing new CSSA students for their graduate career. An alumna of the program, her work with CSSA is punctuated by her desire to improve the experience for students so they are able to focus on becoming excellent Student Affairs practitioners.
Kim is passionate about enacting positive change in the lives of students, particularly students from underrepresented backgrounds. She works to pair students with mentors, developing curriculum and trainings for both students and staff to strengthen the mentorship process as students explore a potential career in Student Affairs.
Her service is constant, and connected to developing inclusive community. In the past she has been involved with the OSU [c.a.r.e] Diversity Summit, the Power of One Regional NASPA Conference, the PROMISE Steering Committee, and worked to review the OSU discrimination policy with regard to disability. Currently, she serves on the Lonnie B. Harris Black Cultural Center Advisory Board, the NASPA Multiracial Knowledge Community, the Racial Aikido Advisory Board, the University Honors Thesis Committee, and the Student Awards and Recognition Committee.
